Jocelyn Collado - Account Director

Jocelyn has over 20 years of experience in managing public, media and community relations for public and non-profit organizations. At Becker Communications, she specializes in media relations and promotional PR, and provides issue management and community relations support to the firm’s corporate communications clients. Jocelyn also provides strategic counsel and management of clients’ advertising campaigns.

Prior to joining BCI, Jocelyn served as senior communications manager and acting chief of staff for the state of Hawaii’s Office of Information Management & Technology. Her history with BCI goes back to 2005 where she supported travel and promotional clients. She also previously held the positions of communications director for the American Heart Association in Hawai‘i, where she managed the local launches of several awareness and educational campaigns, and as communications manager for the Hawai‘i State Chapter of the American Red Cross, where she oversaw public affairs and crisis communications.

Jocelyn received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Hawai‘i – West Oahu. When she’s not directing client programs, Jocelyn is busy perfecting her downward dog pose in yoga, indulging in her passion for food and wine, and living up to her reputation as Hawaii’s shoe diva.


Jon Rasmussen - Director of Advertising & Marketing

It was very early in Jon’s life –just post infancy, in fact- that Jon’s mom was duly taken aback when he demanded to know if he was a Gerber Baby. This alarming trend continued when, as a ‘little shaver’ watching his father shave, his dad was equally given pause when Jon asked him to defend his use of Gillette blades.

To say the least (or perhaps the most, as there might be some ‘puffery’ going on here) Jon became ‘brand aware’ at an early age. Therefore it was no surprise that he embarked on a career in marketing and advertising, starting with degrees in English and Communication from the University of Washington, and continuing with a more than 25-year professional journey through Hawaii marketing departments and ad agencies, resulting in his creative and managerial work on clients in industries such as airlines, tourism, petroleum and retail.

His career path has brought many Pele awards to Jon; and today he sprinkles massive amounts of creative marketing and branding pixie dust (aka BCI's secret sauce) on our agency's estimable and cherished client list.

In his spare time, Jon enjoys music, reading (often at the beach), classic cars, scuba diving and travel. To this day, he remains at heart a Gerber Baby, and is always prepared to defend his use of Gillette personal products.


Wilbur Wong - Director of Digital Communications

Born at a time when you turned a knob to change television channels, Wil developed a passion for technology and all things digital at an early age. His expertise has grown in tandem with the ever-changing Internet, and he now oversees strategic development and execution of digital programs and campaigns for BCI clients, ensuring they are well-aligned with traditional PR and marketing efforts and objectives.

Prior to joining BCI, Wil was part of the Hawaiian Airlines sales and marketing team where he managed both promotional and transactional email campaigns and assisted with the airline's growing social media efforts.

He brings experience with various digital communications platforms, cross-channel promotions and revenue and engagement analytics. A graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Wil's initial track was in the computer science field but he later discovered his true passion and graduated with a communications degree.


Susan Wright - Account Director

Susan brings nearly 20 years of public relations and corporate communications experience to her post at Becker Communications, where she develops and executes promotional public relations strategies.

Before joining the team, Susan directed publicity campaigns and events for the home media distribution group at Paramount Pictures. She further supported partner projects for CBS, Comedy Central, DreamWorks, MTV and PBS.

Susan was also a publicist with Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment, developing corporate messages and communications strategies throughout the critical growth period of a new studio division. She additionally managed executive media training and conducted press outreach across special effects campaigns, the launch of a broadband creativity platform and the studio’s digital distribution initiatives.

Previous agency experience includes leadership roles at marketing communications firm Bender/Helper Impact, where she supervised teams for entertainment, digital, licensing and consumer products accounts. She also developed new business opportunities and supported clients throughout red carpet events and specialized conventions such as E3 and Licensing Show.

Susan is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego in Visual Arts: Media. Time spent with family and friends, volunteering in the community and enjoying the beauty outdoors is treasured. In addition to crafting compelling media stories, Susan enjoys creative writing and has been published in short fiction.


Scott Ishikawa - Account Executive

Widely recognized as the former Department of Transportation spokesperson, Scott is a familiar face in Hawaii’s communications industry. He brings more than 20 years of communications, journalism and community relations experience to his new position at BCI, where he specializes in media relations, community and government relations and issue management for a broad range of clients.

Scott most recently served as a public information specialist for the Honolulu Rail Transit Project, working as part of a team that helped get the largest Hawaii public works project off the ground from the planning stages to the start of construction. From 2003 to 2008, he acted as spokesperson for the state Department of Transportation, providing timely information to the public on various road projects and during times of emergencies. Following his graduation from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, he started his career as a reporter for the Sun Press community newspapers and then the Honolulu Advertiser, where he covered various beats including politics, transportation, police/fire, and community news. Throughout his career, one of his main objectives has been to establish and maintain relationships, particularly along the community level, where many issues usually begin and develop.

Outside of work, his interests include sports and American history. His musical hobbies include playing the piano, singing karaoke and performing in the Society of Professional Journalists’ Gridiron with his media colleagues.


Taryn Bohan - Account Executive

Taryn specializes in promotional public relations and event planning. Prior to joining BCI, she held internships with a local startup specializing in hospitality design and a Honolulu-based advertising agency, as well as the New York City publication Irish Legal 100. She is a graduate of Hawaii Baptist Academy and earned her undergraduate degree in marketing from St. John’s University in New York City, where she also played Division I volleyball.


Shaholly Ayers - Digital, Assistant Account Executive

With over 8 years of combined experience in marketing, graphic design and creative direction on a local, national and international level, Shaholly brings a versatile and diverse background to Becker Communications and integrates her experiences into the digital world as a Digital Assistant Account Executive.

Shaholly is a graduate of Hawaii Pacific University with an M.B.A. in Marketing. In her spare time Shaholly models to advocate for disability inclusion in both the television and fashion industries.


Courtney Liu - Assistant Account Executive

Since entering the workforce, Courtney has built up her experience in marketing, public relations and event planning in the luxury hospitality and retail industries. Prior to joining the BCI team, she was the public relations assistant at Neiman Marcus Honolulu. She also previously worked at Alan Wong’s Restaurants.

Courtney attended Mid-Pacific Institute and went on to receive her B.A. in Communications from the University of Washington.

When she is not promoting brand awareness or conducting media relations for clients, Courtney spends her time working on her calligraphy, volunteering with the homeless through ALEA Bridge, traveling, eating and playing with her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Lilikoi.


Michael Lum - Account Coordinator, Digital Communications

Michael grew up fascinated with computers and decided early on that he would pursue a career in technology. While attending Roosevelt High School, he enrolled in a graphic design class and found a passion not only for design but also website development. He then went on to pursue a higher education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM).

Michael’s initial track of study was in computer science, but he later discovered that communications more strongly aligned with his interests. During his last semester at UHM, Michael interned in BCI’s Digital Communications Department. After receiving his undergraduate degree in Communications with a minor in Economics in December of 2015, he officially joined the team as an account coordinator

As part of the Digital Communications team, Michael develops and manages websites, social media platforms and marketing emails for clients. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching sports, playing soccer and attributing countless hours to video games.


Lisa Gaitan - Office Manager

Lisa provides highly professional management support for daily operations at our company. Originally from California, she made the islands her home in 1996. Her background includes over 15 years of accounting and business administration, as well as managing her father’s business of thirty years. A highly organized person by nature, she honed her skills at a young age, while making to-do lists and alphabetizing purchase orders for the family business.

When she’s not doing spreadsheets and keeping things in order at BCI, Lisa enjoys spending time outdoors and with friends. She loves to attend community events, and is a big fan and supporter of everything "local".
